BMW 1-Series promo video

From some of my comments you may have noticed that I don’t think the highest of the new 1-series. I am certainly a car dude. But the 1-series just doesn’t do it for me in coupe form. Now, if we got it in hatch form, perhaps I could somehow validate adding it to my fleet (I use fleet loosely). The above video, appears to be tied to the LA Autoshow. It looks like all of 500 people have watched. Most employed by either BMW or GSD&M (Bimmer’s ad agency). The video isn’t too bad, but likening the portly 1-series to the 2002 is a bit far reaching.

Some better BMW/GSD&M work — even though it’s a blatant rip off of Mitsubishi (second video below).

Hartage builds X3 Hunter

Ummm, yeah.  When I am looking for a capable off roader (which I never am), I don’t usually place the BMW X3 at the top of the list.  Luckily Hartage is here with the X3 Hunter.  It now has 23cm of clearance!  Which is about the same as a Subaru Outback wagon.  They also bumped the power up to 253 hp (European version of the 3.0 diesel).  They seem to be off a bit with the fit and finish department, the front skid plate is all off kilter and doesn’t line up and the mesh looks like Home Depot gutter guard special.

Luckily Avani is here to help control all the needless losses you have had to your valve stem caps.  They make these lockable chrome tire pressure valve stem caps.  Imagine this situation (lifted directly from their website, “You Smiled, As You Walked Towards Your Car And Watched This Bright Blue, Spiky Hair Kid Still Trying To Frantically Figure Out Why The Avani Tire Pressure Valve Caps Simply Refuse To Come Off...”

This would make a great stocking stuffer at only 25 bucks.

G-Power (lame name) is working on a 800 hp BMW M5, dubbed the Hurricane (lamer name). Now while they have horrible taste in nomenclature, they seem to have the rest of the stuff, like, engineering all in order. They are currently in testing mode, and with (only) 730hp pouring out of the twin turboed v-10 and some electrical gremlins (in a BMW!? Weird.) they managed to hit a top speed of 200mph. They are confident that at 800hp they can turn in sub 3 second 0-60 times and a top speed of around 217mph. Check out G-Power to read more and see their other projects. gpower_bmw_m5_hurricane_image0061.jpggpower_bmw_m5_hurricane_image007.jpggpower_bmw_m5_hurricane_image008.jpg

It’s not that I think Motorola makes bad products. It’s that I think Motorola makes terrible products. And somehow they convinced, or paid enough money to, Ferrari to slap their logo on a Moto V8 phone. So what do you get besides unreliable service, a phone that freezes up, a sim card that some how completely erases itself? Well… you get Ferrari wallpaper, because we all know how hard that is to come by on the Internet. You get Ferrari ring tones. Who uses ring tones? True ballers roll on vibrate only. You also get links to online magazines. Wow.

Buyers of the Ferrari phone will also be interested in:

Wheels24 is a South African automotive publication.  They recently had a reader poll (and I am sure it returned 95% reliability at confidence intervals of +/- .5%), that asked readers to cite the gayest, the straightest and what a corrupt politician would drive.  While I am surprised the the gayest list isn’t comprised entirely of VW products, I am even more surprised that people thought, oh yeah, Corolla, most certainly a straight car.

Local dealer ads (Saturday, Saturday, Saturday!) never fail to amaze me.  Here is one for a dealership in Illinois, Super Dealer comes into defeat the imports.  The imports, being a chubby white guy in sumo costume.

top 10 most unusual drifts

Terrible music. But excellent drifting skills, in a tank. Apparently people get really bored in Sweden. Which is understandable, because it’s pretty much Canada but with hotter chicks. A Man’s World has the whole slew. There is even some guy drifting with a horse and carriage. The kid on the three wheeler appears to have better drifting skills than Nick Hogan.
