Geneva, Switz., Ford Motor Company will be unveiling the new and improved Fiesta at this year’s Geneva motor show. Something close to the Ford Verve concept vehicle, this is one new Ford that will actually see U.S. shores.

Dimentionally, the new Fiesta has the same proportions as the old one, but will weigh less. Developed in a joint worldwide Fo-Mo-Co effort, the Fiesta will be sold in nearly every region of the globe, while safety features as well as vehicle components will all be the same.

Diesel and gas engines will be available in Europe- no word on what kind of engines will be seen in North American models. Assuming the 1.6 litre four banger makes it over here, buyers will have 116 horses on tap, N/A. One has to wonder what a turbo would do in there, eh? (Hint, hint, Ford-RS model? SVT model? Hmmmmm?)

The new Fiesta will be available in Europe in the fall, while Canucks and Yanks will have to wait until 2010 to get their hands on one. There is varied speculation on what version will make it here, so far, only the sedan has been greenlighted for N. America. Stay tuned for more!

  1. holy mackerel a fiesta that’s not an ugly roller skate. i’m impressed.

  2. The Verve is hot. I gotta say I’m not entirely turned off by the Ford Edge, so this might have a chance.

  3. it looks a lot like the Citroen C4, IMO

  4. This is on the new Mazda2 platform!

So sad that we don’t just get the Mazda2 though, it’s so beautiful.Canada is getting it but not in the states.

I’d rather they brought the euro Focus ST but at least they’re bringing us something decent from their europe offerings!
