“Street’s closed pizza boy, find another way home!” Apparently that’s the case in Lodz, Poland.
Polish street racers (huge fans of Vin Diesel and Paul Walker) have been given the green light to speed through Lodz, Poland’s second largest city.
In an effort to stop the increasing spread of illegal street racing in Lodz, city officials and the police have made it legal in a section of the city to street race at night. They hope this will keep the youth from speeding at night throughout the city, not only endangering themselves, but the onlookers watching the races and citizens of Lodz.
“We’ve come to an understanding with the organizers of the illegal races,” said the head of the Lodz Motoring Club, Lech Ryszewski, who is working closely with the official and police ensuring the safety of bystanders. “The motoring club has created a Street Legal section, which will organise the races in closed off streets, under the supervision of licensed organisers and judges. In return, participants are obliged to make sure no one organizes similar races on city streets.”
And while the youth may be enjoying all this ‘legal’ racing, the Polish press is surely criticizing the city of Lodz for clearly giving into the street racer boys and their illegal street racing activities.
Check out the action!

Besides these being the slowest races I have ever seen, it seems to me like actually figuring out some sort of purpose made “drag strip” arrangement would make more sense.

Just drag racing? Would it be that hard to find a strip somewhere? I thought it would be through the streets or something (lame).

I really don’t mind street racing all that much.

I don’t see any speeding there… what’s the problem?

Yes! They absolutely need to do something like this in the US. They built skate parks to keep hooded youths from terrorizing sidewalks, why can’t they build drive parks to keep slightly older hooded youths from terrorizing the roads? I’ve been saying this for years.

We shut down roads all the time in Chicago. At least when I was there last summer.

Where is Chicago Charley? Lower Wacker street racing FTW

I’m pretty sure you know where Chicago is located Bart.
We would usually block off Wells starting at Jackson and go to Randolph. It gave us about 10 blocks to race.
I have a good amount of family that is CPD so getting them to help us off-duty wasn’t ever really an issue.
