Atlanta Motor Speedway, Atlanta, Ga.- Kyle Busch took his Toyota Camry to the winner’s circle this weekend, leading the race for a total of 173 laps. It was touch-and-go for Busch, who looked to be out of contention for the win when Carl Edwards in the #99 Roush-Fenway Ford took the lead, but engine problems forced Edwards to abdicate the top spot. Tony Stewart in another Camry took second, while Dale Earnhardt, Jr. rounded out the top three in his Chevrolet. “The 18! The 18 The 18 is back in Atlanta!” Exclaimed a jubilant Busch after crossing the stripe. This in reference to the former #18 car driver, Bobby Labonte, who won six cup races at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Following the race, Tony Stewart and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. made their stance known about the Goodyear tires all teams run on their cars, unhappy with their performance during the race. Stewart was very congratulatory of Busch- a rare moment indeed. Congratulations to Busch and Toyota Motor Company for their inaugural win (and a 1-2 finish) in the NASCAR Sprint Cup series.
