Ah, cardomain. If there ever was a social utility for car geeks, that’d be the one to top ‘em all. Chock fulla interesting rides and similarly interesting people, the site is a vital part of the wired gearhead community. I check out their site on a regular basis, and their blog always has good stuff, from a very diverse staff of writers, such as “Mr. Angry,” who drove a bitchin’ black 68 Charger in the Spike TV Bullrun series. The focus of the cardomain website isn’t the blog, however, it’s the community. Their website is a free place where car guys and gals can gather without expending a drop of gasoline, and interact over nothing but cars, and the culture that surrounds it. If that doesn’t prove that car culture is a real thing, I dunno what will. On to the question for this week: Do you have a cardomain profile, and if so, what do you have posted? If not, why not?
I don’t have a profile, actually, as my car is a bit pedestrian for the site (in my opinion, anyway) and I end up getting stuck on the blog page anyhow, as there’s always a ton of good content to check out. For instance, a post that “Suizybruisy” (AKA Jen Dunaway) put together deals with the little known Ford King Cobra project that was abandoned by the Blue Oval in the early ’70s. Neat stuff.

That’s not to say that there aren’t worthwhile member profiles, however, as cars like “67Coug1290″’s ‘69 Firebird (below) is drop-dead gorgeous. It is a real pro-touring beast, and looks absolutely menacing in some of the night shots he has posted on his profile. Well done, bravo! See more of the car HERE.

But enough with the rah-rah, what say you?

I met one of the editors for Car Domain while I was at NYIAS, really nice guy. I had no idea that they have 56 some employees.
That being said, I have never had a cardomain account, I actually find them really tacky. It’s the MySpace of cars, the layout looks really cheap.
They really need to develop a “Facebook” for cars, clean, concise, something that doesn’t look like a blind art director threw up on.

Like Chris said, “It’s the MySpace of cars”. I don’t ever see myself joining this one. I don’t even go there unless someone links me to it. Those almost feel like the Rick Rolls of car sites when I realize what the link is I’m opening up.
I’m sure there are many well built cars that are displayed on the site, but that doesn’t change the fact that I feel like I need to shower after looking around there.
