Although the Trans-Am racing series is all but defunct these days, but in the 60’s and 70’s, it was one of the many places where American Manufacturers came together to beat the hell out of each other both on the track and in sales. The Boss 302, Z-28, Javelin and AAR ‘Cuda all battled side-by-side in a bid for understeer glory. To see one of these things in action is nothing short of legendary, so I thought I’d share this doozy of a video I found while avoiding more work browsing YouTube. Enjoy (turn the volume WAAAAAAAY up), and have a great weekend!

One of my greatest memories was a TransAm race at Lime Rock Park in about 1973 or 1974, when Parnelli Jones had to start at the back of the field for some reason. He managed to not only take the lead, but lap most of the field as well in his Mustang!
But the sound of those cars was just awesome to me as a 8-12 year-old kid. The IMSA cars followed, and they were faster, but not as much fun to watch. Not even close. Thanks for the memories.
