So the owner of a Skyline works a specialized dealership. In walks a guy who appears to be pretty serious about purchasing it. He comes in a second day and the owner allows a solo test drive. A ten minute test drive then turns into grand theft auto.
The (former) owner then posts on a local Canadian automotive forum, with pictures of the car and a description of the thief. Soon, half of the damn forum is on a bounty hunt mission to catch this guy.
Update: Video of the perp and the arrest after the jump
The thief was spotted by one of the members and pictures were quickly snapped and the police were called, but “claw boy” got away. The nickname claw boy came from the fact that the thief had supposedly lost two fingers when a car he was a passenger in rolled over.
Fast forward a couple days, another forum member spots the car in front of the perp’s house, and blocks it in. The police (likely on horses) and the owner respond. Turns out claw boy is wanted for various other crimes. Arrest, celebration, and Molson surely follow. Pictures of the escapade are posted in the thread.
Kind of awesome how these forum members look out for one another. However, it does kind of dash my hopes of a career in Internet larceny.
Here’s “The Claw” getting taken in to custody:

i’m surprised they thought a douche like that could afford a skyline
good catch!

I also love the fact that this kid thought he could get away with it all. In order to be a thief, you need to have better than a very average intelligence.

Silly Canadians! Props to the members of the forum, I love grassroots support to fight against general sketchiness and douchebags.

Just noted in the picture it was a BMW that appears to have snapped it. The Germans are so exacting!

Good deal. I’m happy for the owner!

Between this and the M3 auction, I’m beginning to think this internet thing might be catching on.

John –twas an M3. The other commented on how he wishes he was in his turbo supra at the time so he could make chase a little better. Plus his wife and baby were in the car at the time.
I LOVE epic internet pwnage like this, and it always seems to be happening on car forums. Are car forums the most popular/active? I guess it’s possible, since cars are the second largest purchases in most people’s lives, and who joins a forum about house modding? lol
