Sorry updates have been so few and far between this week, folks-I have been very remiss in my duties to all of you-my sincerest apologies. Above is my peace offering, spotted at the Goodguys show in Loveland, Colorado, last summer. Anyone notice what’s not quite right with this otherwise bitchin’ ‘70 ‘Cuda? Now, Mopar fit and finish wasn’t all that great during the period this car was produced, but come on! After spending what I’m sure was big bucks on restoring an E-body, is putting the spoiler on backwards and making exhaust tips out of old sheet stock really something to overlook? Whatever the story is behind this, I sure got a good chuckle out of it.

First off-let it be known that I’m not usually one to report what Jalopnik has before, but in this case, I think it’s warranted- the European-spec Ford Focus will be coming to America. If this is any sign, Ford has listened to enthusiasts and those in the know and thrown corporate politics to the wind, in order to bring a quality vehicle to market. Bravo, Ford- full story at Jalopnik.

Los Angeles- Who woulda thunk it- classic cars are being stolen at an alarming rate in Southern California, enough that authorities have had to sit up and take notice. WSATI, or the Western States Auto Theft Investigators Association is a coalition of law enforcement entities, rental car companies and auto insurers dedicated to decreasing auto theft trends in the Western region of the U.S. Read the rest of this entry »

OK folks! Yours truly will be participating in an event hosted by GM called CatchTheVibe. It started a few weeks ago from Montreal and has wound its way to Vancouver. I am taking up the final leg this coming friday. Think of this event as some sort of a cross between Amazing Race and “Herbie goes Bananas”-type road rally across Metro Vancouver. Along the race, there will be various challenges. And this is where via the Pearl communicate with my online network support for help. There will be 4 teams set-up consisting of crack auto-scribes from various media outlets. I am naturally in Team Style.
We will be given a Blackberry Pearl to post and communicate with our online supporters along the way. Now I know most of the avid fans of C|G are Americans so local knowledge of BC will be minimal. But you can still help! Just sign-up at www.catchthevibe.ca in support of my team - Team Style. The more support we get, the more points we earn and if our team wins, you can win a car or BlackBerrys (if you are local). But we know you guys are in it not for the prize, but to support fellow C|G member! So Culture Garage represent!
For more info, see the website. Thanks for the support.

Y’all prolly know me as a pretty die-hard muscle car fan. I adore the sound of any V8, and the kick you get in the small of your back under hard acceleration is hard to beat. However, recently I have been confronted by the question of whether I could have another potential object of lust-and I have found myself wrapped around a nice little conundrum-thanks to the RX-8. You know, the Brits really got it right in the ’70s. Japanese manufacturers were primarily focused on economy in their cars. Here in the states, American manufacturers were building barges and burly pickups (punctuated occasionally by a couple of small cars). The British, however, were slapping (almost literally) together interesting little roadsters, coupes and sedans, reminiscent of those popular in the early ’60s. Read the rest of this entry »

“The Strip” at Las Vegas Motor Speedway- Top Fuel was hotly contested in Vegas, as Cory McClenathan snatched victory from the jaws of defeat on Sunday. McClenathan, who bested Antron Brown in the final, hoisted a Wally for the first time in 30 races. “To say the least, it’s about time,” McClenathan said. The race was close, with McClenathan’s 4.65 to Brown’s 4.70 ET, further sweetening the victory for McClenathan. In Pro Stock, Jason Line took home the overall victory in his Pontiac GXP-bodied ride. In the final, it was Line over Greg Stanfield. Line left after Stanfield but managed to get around him to secure the victory, with a margin of 6.78 to Stanfield’s 6.81. In Funny Car, Tim Wilkerson claimed the win, beating out Ashley Force in the final round. Wilkerson, driving in a one-car operation, took his Chevy-bodied car to the winner’s circle in a holeshot victory, soundly trouncing Force’s reaction time, 0.09 to a 0.12. At the big end, Wilkerson ended up with an ET of 4.96 to Force’s 4.99, although Force was faster through the traps. “This was a hard weekend. The track was treacherous from time to time, but NHRA did a good job, and the Goodyear tires worked well today. The U.S. Smokeless guys helped us change motors after I hurt one against Ron Capps,” Wilkerson said. Read the rest of this entry »

Not much to say about this BMW Individual Dakar Yellow E92 M3 other than I think it looks damn good in yellow. Found this Individual ordered car posted on M3post.com and some 19″ BBS LM/LM-R would finish it off beautifully. I have always been a fan of BMW’s Dakar Yellow and this is just another example why.
