3 CommentsOk, seriously, I don’t know what is wrong with me. Lately, I have really been drawn to the red triangle…Pontiac. Really? The G8 is hot. The Solstice Coupe is gorgeous in a manly way. And their commercials have kicked ass…how did a brand go from “driving excitement” to this?
I wrote about Spy Hunter a few weeks ago…well this weekend I was watching the Final Four (which is a story in itself, because I hate watching sports) and another excellent one came on.
This one is the G8 vs the BMW 5 series. It’s actually pretty damn funny. They take blatant stabs at BMW and BMW owners. But let’s be realistic, most people that would be shopping these will go BMW for the status that the Bavarian brings. It’s hard to begin rationalizing autos over the $40k price point.
Watch the video a few times, there is quite a bit of humorous fodder in these.

So in case you didn’t get your fill of Denver Auto show last week, I’ll be posting my “b” roll this week, divided into loosely defined categories. Today the makes of the Germanic persuasion get their day in the sun. Oh, and I’m obviously not…how you say…a professional photographer, so don’t set your hopes up too high. More pictures after the jump. Read the rest of this entry »

I love to read- I have a shelf fulla books to prove it. Getting more to the point, this week I’m interested in your library. With the number of magazines, books and other media out there regarding cars, there are all sorts of choices in automotive writing. Read the rest of this entry »

Las Vegas Motor Speedway- Coming up April 10-13 is the SummitRacing.com NHRA Nationals at the famous “Strip” at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. A ticket to Vegas is cheap-so if you have a free weekend, head on over and check it out! It’s just a quick drive up I-15 from the Las Vegas Strip (you know, the one with flashing lights and casinos and such) and promises to be a good time. If you can’t make it to Vegas, catch the action on ESPN2, with Qualifying April 12 from 8-10:00 PM, Eliminations on April 13 from 8-11:00 PM, and a repeat of Eliminations on April 16 from 3-5:00 AM. This is what happens when hipsters get money. They buy Vespas (I don’t even know if it is a Vespa, I just categorize all old scooters Vespa) and then pimp them out. He was riding along with his buddy on a newer-fangled scooter. Although, the other scooter guy was probably just a guy with a DUI on his record so his mode of transportation is a 50cc weed whacker on wheels.
It’s beyond me why anyone would put like 700 mirrors on a scooter. But it’s also beyond me why the previous owner of my house would build a retaining wall with no drainage. Yeah, it was a great weekend! And yes, I am bitter. Buy a tshirt so a whopping $3 can go towards my “rebuild a f*cking wall budget.”

So let’s say you like the power of an F-body, but dislike the styling and cut-rate interior. You also dig the cornering prowess of the Mitsubishi Evo- but the high-strung inline really isn’t your style. In this situation, what’s a guy (or gal) supposed to do? Why, shoehorn an LS1 into said Evo, of course!
Now, I don’t really have any specifics on the video, like where it was shot, what the whole point of this amalgam is, what sort of power is being put out, but that bowtie mill sure sounds nasty, and I can only wonder what that thing will be like once the ProCharger is belted up. What I can tell you is that this “Evo” is running the stock pumpkin-which will no doubt be turned into puree should the mill get into the higher RPM ranges. Oh, and say bye-bye to the weight balance, unless you wanna break out the kitty litter.
Have a great weekend, everybody!

So last month we saw the first modified Jaguar XF, done by the California dealer Galpin, and its gaudy two tone paint scheme. To be honest I wasn’t too impressed. But leave it to the Germans to produce this stunning tuning package for the Jaguar XF.
German tuner Arden, which specializes in Jaguars and Range Rovers, has released this teaser picture with no other details. The “AJ21 XF” package as it’s called includes a new front bumper, a new mesh grille, custom ‘leaping-cat’ hood ornament, LED daytime running lights, aero side mirrors, and a pair of sporty side sills. Most importantly gone are the stock wheels, which reminded me of VW Hufeisen wheel found on the MKV GTI.
Arden hasn’t announced any details on the mechanical updates, but be patient as the package is set to go on sale this June.

Thanks to Aero for the tip. So maybe you are having a problem selling one of the ugliest Saab models in existence? Yes, I am talking about the 9000.
One of the best ways to draw attention to your listing would be to have a call girl pose in stilletos, flash her red bra, and wear eurotrash glasses.
But it doesn’t stop there. What about those people who aren’t attracted to skanks? Well then, how about a geriatric man in the passenger seat? I wonder if he is included with the car.
Here’s the listing, my only request is that you don’t out bid me.
