Volkswagen/Audi has been real busy with 3 super-hot unveilings at this year’s Worthersee GTI meet in Worther Lake, Austria. Audi first showed off the Audi A3 TDI clubsport quattro concept and then the near-production ready Audi TT clubsport quattro, and now Volkswagen debuts the Passat .:R36 Variant.

Performance remains essentially the same, based on the 300-hp, 3.6-liter V6 platform, and a new catback exhaust system with larger tailpipes has been added. Front brakes have been replaced by Brembo 6-piston calipers and the beautiful 20″ wheels have been taken from the Touareg R-Line. The Passat’s suspension has also been lowered quiet a bit from stock ride height. All exterior chrome pieces have been painted the Passat’s Moonlight Blue hue which just looks stunning.

Interior upgrades include the ever-so-popular Recaro bucket seats that have been seen before in the European MKV VW R32, Audi RS4 and Audi R8. Their color has been repeated throughout the cabin including matching steering wheel and DSG gear selector.

One can only hope to see the Passat .:R36 Variant stateside but I highly doubt it as it’s more of a styling study than a pre-production model.
