Squint a bit, and let your imagination take over. The scoop, the C pillar, the profile. Izzat a Subaru? No, It couldn’t be, it sits too high…wait…nope, it’s not a Subaru-it’s a Ford-and it’s one worth calling design-foul looking over.

Based on the Aussie Ford Territory, the F6X performance SUV is the newest member of the “FPV” or Ford Performance Vehicle lineup. Although a bit of a lowering and “STi” badging could fool most onlookers, the compact truck is most definitely all Ford. A real competitor with the likes of the Porsche Cayenne Turbo and the ML 63 AMG Merc, the vehicle comes loaded, with a set of 6-piston Brembos in front, a firmer suspension than the Territory, and recalibrated ABS controls. With all of this kit (AND a “snazzy” side stripe) the turbocharged inline-6 powered F6X is only a fraction of a second slower in the 0-60 than it’s aforementioned competition, tripping the clocks at 5.9 seconds-when equipped with the six-speed sequential autobox.

All-wheel-drive is another feature copped from Subaru on the SUV, which runs full time. Cutsie little badges and callouts help onlookers remember what car, er, truck they are looking at, and a mesh grille provides ample support for the blue oval up front. 363 horsepower is produced by the powerplant, making it THE most powerful copy of a Subaru SUV in the Aussie market.

Other unique features include the trussed-up interior, with headrest stitching of the STi F6X logo. Two-tone seats to match the SUV’s split personality make up the seating, and an intercooler that is slightly reminiscent of another car’s (hmmm…I wonder) round out the package. So…what price bootleg copy Ford? Expect prices to be around $53,990 AU.
