I think Reno 911 is one of the funniest television shows on the air (Arrested Development was the only other one close to that).  I was watching an episode from 2007 last night.  And Jr. stopped a girl for alleged street racing.  Hilarity ensues.  Enjoy!

Question of the Week

June 10, 2008

Recently, I received an E-mail from a friend of mine concerning the (now infamous) story of some guy on an Audi forum who attempted to sandblast his engine’s intake manifold by running, well, sand through the motor-while it was running. Although there was some mention of a “Honda tuner” being involved, I won’t dwell on that aspect, but rather the sheer insanity of what occurred in the story. Sand and engines don’t play well together, thus the rationale behind filters- so what was the guy thinking? That’s the spirit of this week’s question. Read the rest of this entry »

Route 66 Raceway, Chicago- Chalk another win up for Mr. Tony Pedregon, who took his 38th Funny Car title home this weekend. Able to endure through terrible eliminations weather and a fire during qualifying rounds, Pedregon took out a tough field to claim the title. Read the rest of this entry »

Yeah, as you know, a lot of us here at c|g are huge mac guys.  With the exception of Jim and Bart, which is why they post so infrequently, due to their windoze machines crapping out. ;)  Anyways, last week crunchgear caught a tip of the new iPhone 2.0.  Looks pretty hot.  For the nerds out there, gizmodo will be live-blogging from the World Wide Developer’s Conference.  All signs point to Apple announcing today.  Anyone want to buy a lightly used 8gb iPhone?

You may have caught the video from my most recent track day.  Perhaps, you were wondering, “wow, how did he get that video?”  Well now you know.  I had this camera suction cupped to an arm that extended from my hood.  The camera remained surprisingly stable at speeds up to 130mph.  I bought the camera, Motorsports Hero, from Track Time Motorsports for $199 which included a charger, batteries, memory card and of course all of the above pictured camera accessories.  I would highly recommend the camera and the vendor.

Spotted this excellent example of a 240sx as I walked to get lunch. What did I have you ask? Spinach salad with walnuts and strawberries. Anyways, this fine specimen had a cleave monster plastered on the hood along with a bunch of other sweet stickers. Few more pictures below. Oh and also spotted was a sick looking MB CL.

An allegedy drunk driver passed out at the wheel of the car.  As the car continued to careen out of control, it went head on into a pack of cyclists in a bike race in Monterey, Mexico.  One of the riders was killed, others were likely injured.  Police responded in-time to stop the attempted lynching on the driver.  Be careful out there guys.  Damn shame.

culture|garage takes to the track

Five friends and c|g members took to Brainerd International Raceway on Monday for a high speed track day.  The event was put on by Todd of Track Time Motorsports.  TTM is a great organization, this marks our second event with them, well run, safe and just nice unpretentious people.  For some, it was their first event, but they are most certainly hooked.  I was wailing on my 9-3.  Driving it harder than I have ever driven it.  I battled back and forth with a slicked up 993 and various other cars.  However, the day progressively got worse, a Ford GT passed me at 140mph+ and then lost it right in front of me (see video).  And then my coolant light came on…waterpump is shot.  And then the car was making odd noises at track speed.  Turns out my lugs were had loosened on one side.  Could have been disastrous.  I had just checked the torque 30 mins before that.  Weird.
