NHRA, NASCAR Weekend Wrap-Up

Pacific Raceways, Seattle, WA- Tony Bartone. What, never heard of him? That’s a shame, as he is one of the most talented drivers in the NHRA, and he just took his first Funny Car victory over the weekend. A veteran of alcohol racing, Bartone hadn’t managed to take an overall win in 119 starts in his professional career. 119. Bartone earned his victory in the new 1,000-foot format, with a final round win over Ron Capps, a 4.45 ET to Capps’ 4.70. “This [winning as an NHRA Professional] is what you dream about; this is what you work your whole career to do. Winning was great in the Alcohol ranks: we did a lot of winning, we won championships, and we won national events and divisional races. But this is a special moment. It’s a culmination of what you try to accomplish as a racer,” said Bartone. In Top Fuel, Tony Schumacher won yet another final, sweeping the Western leg of the PowerADE tour. In the final, Brandon Bernstein was bested by Tony, with a 3.90 ET to Bernstein’s 4.05. Like 4.05 is slow. Finally, in Pro Stock, Jason Line took home a Wally, Taking out Allen Johnson in the final round, 6.65 to 6.66 ET’s, respectively. Congratulations to Tony Bartone and his team on a hard-earned and well deserved victory.
