Sears Point Raceway, Sonoma, Ca.- Robert Hight took his Ford-badged auto-mo-bile into the winner’s circle at the Fram/Autolite NHRA Nationals this weekend, beating Gary Densham in the final round, running a 4.16 ET to Densham’s 4.22- that is, in the 1,000-foot race.

Tony “da sarge” Schumacher wrapped up the Western leg of the NHRA POWERAde tour with a win in Sonoma, taking out Hillary Will in the final, with a 3.886ET to 3.988, again, in the 1,000-footer. Schumacher is the first driver to sweep the Western leg of the tour since 2004, when Greg Anderson accomplished the same feat in Pro Stock. Dave Connolly took the Wally in Pro Stock, sawing off Jeg Coughlin in a holeshot victory. Finally, Matt Guidera won Pro Stock Bike, with the holeshot win over Andrew Hines.

The Brickyard- It’s about damn time someone without a “k” in his name won a race this season, in this case, a case of the “double J’s” took the overall win. Jimmie Johnson took both the pole and the victory at the Brickyard, and Chad Knaus…wait, he’s got a “k” in his name…whatever. Anyhow, drivers and crewchiefs alike met with great frustration in Indianapolis, as right-side tires were eaten up very quickly, despite the “scheduled” pit stops all teams were forced to take, resulting in several cautions. Carl Edwards snatched second, while Denny Hamlin took third.
