There’s a segment of the muscle car domain that breaks from the norm, in that going around corners is just as important as going fast- it’s called “pro touring.” Although they are much-hyped, Air Ride Technologies has just completed the latest “pro-tourer,” and although I am loathe to offer praise to a car built solely for marketing purposes, I have to admit, this car is (in my best preteen parlance) freakin’ awesome. Hello CG’ers! Sorry I’ve been away on a research project to determine any correlation between the migration of snow geese and coffee imports. But I’m back having reacquaint myself back to an old friend….

Seeing as how the SUV is considered dead by most, I thought it pertinent this week to talk not about the Prius or any other technologically-advanced vehicles, but rather, the Geo Metro. I used to- wait, scratch that- I look down on the Metro like a food critic does McDonald’s, and so I have never considered it a particularly good car. What are your experiences/impressions of the Metro, and why?

Hope you haven’t forgot about our Reader Photo Gallery (look to the left side of the page). Ricky Flores has had a few other pictures featured on c|g and it looks like he has some new ones up. My favorite is likely the Beatle, featured above. If you want your shots shared with the world, just add the tag “culturegarage” when you are tagging your uploads in Flickr

I’m about as sure of the sun rising tomorrow as I am of the date of the apocalypse- and perhaps it has already come, in light of this news. In a shocking statement issued today, the NHRA has mandated that Top Fuel and Funny Car classes will now be run to the 1,000 foot mark in all NHRA-sanctioned events. I know, I know, my heart stopped for a second when I read that, too. Read the rest of this entry »

The Alfa 8C Competizione. Probably the finest Alfa-Romeo to come out of Italy- it flows, it’s powerful, and it is the sweetheart of many auto-journos worldwide. In fact, Alfa-Romeo has a proud history of being the heartthrob of any and all car enthusiasts who hate themselves enough to go through the perpetual struggle that is an Alfa. So what about you? Could you give up your STi for one? Read the rest of this entry »
