Paste Magazine made a top 10 list of the best songs in Olympic commercials.  Nike and the GM had the most, with two each.  GM’s brand ad took second place with Brandi Carlile’s, “The Story.”  While I am not a huge fan of the song, it is certain fitting for the commercial…which actually is pretty good.  Congrats to GM at taking second in the venerable Paste Magazine top 10 best songs in Olympic commercials.

Well, we are doing it again.  About seven or eight of us are making another trip to a Rally America event.  We are headed up to the deep forests of northern Minnesota to watch the Ojibwe Forest Rally.  This is just three short weeks after the X Games event…that left a lot of carnage on the cars.  Including ACP’s crazy end over end roll.

The rally starts with a superspecial at Bemidji Speedway, this is one of the rare instances where fans can actually see the entire stage, before trekking out in the woods to plant themselves at a turn.  We’ll watch as Pastrana, ACP and Block battle it out.

Just the other day we did a quick write up on Motorsports Country Club, shortly after that I got an email from a gentleman named Kevin.  Kevin is with Motorsports Park of Coloardo, another track that is being built in Colorado, this one a bit closer to Denver.  It appears that this one is a bit further along then the MSCC site, as permits have already been obtained.

They are planning for a 5.86 mile track with two circuits.  Their membership will be very country club like, with certain pricing levels giving you greater access to their amenities and track time.  Per their site, they are still looking to break ground yet this year.

Check out their site they even have “videos” of out the circuit will be ran (a la Roller Coaster Tycoon). If these tracks keep popping up in Colorado, I am really going to have to reconsider some of the job offers out there. ;)

Thanks to Jonathan for the tip.  More and more it seems like private tracks and car country clubs are popping up.  One of the most famous is IL’s Autobahn Country Club.  This one in Colorado is just another one to add to the list of potential tracks seeking sponsors and investors.  And it certainly makes me wish I lived in Colorado and had trash cans full of money.  The about us reads like a who’s who and all seem fairly credible and established, however the creative director deserves a kick in the nads for the web design.

Anyways, the track is attempting to be the Nurburgring of North America and if they get established, it could be just that.  And say you get bored just cresting hills at 130mph, that’s ok you can take to the ATV course, or the skid pad…or hell even the spa.

Hopefully, the folks at the track keep in touch, I would love to get one of our contributers there to take pictures and check out the progress.  Check out pictures and plans on their site. Full press release after the jump.

Reader, Shawn submitted this photo of a BMW 3 series he saw while cruising down the highway.  Take a closer gander.  You can see work has been done to the rear trunk lid and Mercedes Benz tail lights have been added to the butt end.  I assume that took a lot of time and money…but why?  Thanks Shawn!

How do you screw this up!?

BBC brings Top Gear to YouTube

You may have been sick of having to download torrents of Top Gear.  And most posts on YouTube only lasted a short time, before clips were pulled for copyright infringement.  The good news is that BBC has added a pretty slick YouTube channel, youtube.com/topgear.

Mini Cooper Rickshaw Edition

Spotted on thecoolhunter.net.  Mini did a pretty cool brand promotion at the Olympics.  They used the tail end of what looks like the new Clubman (barf) and threw a cycle on to the front of it.  Rickshaws are one of the coolest forms of public trans out there, but this Mini-influenced ’shaw is pretty freaking sweet.
