eBay Motors is SRS BSNS!!!

I never understood how people can buy a car on eBay sight unseen, but even more so it's apparent that if you win the auction getting the keys handed over to you isn't as easy as one thinks.

Dooma350 (a member of M3post.com) learned this the hard way after placing his bid on the E90 M3 sedan that was listed on eBay Motors by BMW of Lincoln, Nebraska. After winning the auction at $60,000 for this fully loaded M3 (ballpark MSRP of $69K) he soon received 'the call' from the dealership that the auction was a mistake and he will not be getting his M3 sedan unfortunately.

The auction wasn't a mistake as the dealership changed the Buy It Now price twice and they were fully aware of what they were doing and more importantly the price the auction was listed at. Per eBay rules Dooma350 won the auction fair and square. No action yet has been taken by the dealership.

That is very unfortunate, I am sure eBay will step in because of the press. I for one LOVE eBay motors. Not only have I bought and sold parts on it, I scored a 1984 911 Porsche Carerra for less than half its value - and she’s perfect.

I think this guy is going about things the wrong way. His first call should have been to a lawyer (if he is out biding on E92s he better be able to afford one or something is wrong); let the lawyer deal with eBay. And the second call should have been from him (after consulting with his lawyer) to BMWNA, they will come down much harder on their dealers than anyone else.
He might get something out of this but I kind of doubt it. Ultimately it is going to take a VP at BMWNA to get something done for this guy.

I this were a local dealership that shafted this I don’t know and will never meet, I would still throw a brick through their showroom window on principle alone.
