Some propaganda from GM.
GM has stayed in contact with me since the first few months of starting this site. Along the last couple years they’ve invited us to many different events. And sometimes they like to fill our inboxes up. They couldn’t contain their excitement with the most recent news. That news being that for the first time in 21 months, they posted sales gains. I’ll reiterate, for the first time in 21 months, they’ve posted sales gains. That’s certainly worth writing about. But how big was this gain? Well, it was 4.1%, and the October annualized selling rate is the second-lowest October sine the early 80’s. (via Reuters)
And yet, there is still more to the story. It’s not that they aren’t excited about the sales increase, but there are lots of other big things at play, specifically, outselling competitors, directly from Chris Preuss, GM V.P. of Communications:
Perhaps the most encouraging thing from my perspective is the strength of our newest launch products. For instance:
· Chevy Camaro sales trumped Ford Mustang for fifth month in a row and remains bestselling car in the segment
· Chevy Equinox holds 10 percent of critical crossover segment and recent study shows 50 percent of new Equinox owners traded in a non GM Vehicle – that’s exactly what we want to see!
· Chevy Traverse outsold Ford Edge, Ford Flex, Toyota Highlander and Honda Pilot
· Buick and GMC sold more cars this month than Buick/Pontiac/GMC did the same time last year
· Buick LaCrosse and GMC Terrain had best sales month of the year
· Cadillac sales increased 22 percent versus same time last year led by strength of SRX crossover
· Research shows Lexus and BMW owners are trading in their crossovers for the SRX – again, great news!

It’s just waiting for laquer isn’t it or whatever the equivalent is?
