Mini Cooper Rickshaw Edition

Spotted on thecoolhunter.net.  Mini did a pretty cool brand promotion at the Olympics.  They used the tail end of what looks like the new Clubman (barf) and threw a cycle on to the front of it.  Rickshaws are one of the coolest forms of public trans out there, but this Mini-influenced ’shaw is pretty freaking sweet.

Things that give you goosebumps

Every once in awhile, we bring you something completely unrelated to cars.  But hey, usually they are pretty cool.  As you were watching the Olympics you probably saw this commercial.  It’s a brand spot for Nike.  It was produced by Wieden and Kennedy and is called “Courage.”  You probably recognize most of the faces, surgery photos of Lance Armstrong, Jordan kissing the trophy, to John McEnroe.  The music is the Killer’s, “All these things that I’ve done.”

The new 2009 Subaru WRX

You have probably heard about the new 2009 Subaru WRX.  Subaru has done some substantial changes to this model.  A significant bump in power (265hp), revised suspension, the STI grille and spoiler all make this a pretty sweet package.  See more at subaru.com/animal.

With the press embargo now lifted and the official launch correlated to the X Games, you will begin seeing web videos and commercials featuring the WRX and the STI.  The commercials are produced by Carmichael Lynch and can be seen on the likes of ESPN, Spike, etc.  Above, you have Burn Rubber and below you have a humorous take on a driver’s ed video.  Enjoy.

A rather unfortunate ad campaign

By now you have probably heard of the horrendous bus slaughter.  Where a man apparently went ape shit and attacked a sleeping man, stabbing him multiple times and eventually beheading him.  Seriously,  someone did not get beat enough as a kid.  Wow.  What’s also unfortunate, is Greyhound was currently running an advertising campaign that stated, There’s a reason you’ve never heard of “bus rage.”  All of the ads are currently being pulled from publications.  For more read here.

Perhaps I am just jaded and bitter as I am coming out of a redeye flight back from X Games, but man, this commercial blows (or maybe I just don’t get it).  I mean, sure, a Jeep is great to have to pull some dude out of a snow bank.  Right, I get that.  But is it needed to take a fox back to the wilderness?  Or to take a dude for a swim at the beach?

Isn’t that kind of overkill?  Let’s sip the gas people.  Now excuse me, I need to go drive two blocks to pick up milk.

Warren, MI- Here’s the news that everyone nobody saw coming- the Chevrolet Camaro is back. In a brief 4:00 EST reveal at GM’s Warren facility, Ed Wellburn and Ed Peper- a couple of the big shots in charge of the Camaro project, gave a short scpiel discussing the car and it’s fantasicalness. While the crowd of journalists looked on, the production car rolled into the studio, and was set upon by said journalists soon after. Meanwhile, over at 5thgen.org, site staff posted the color palette and technical specs for the General-Motivated pony car. Big thanks to Jalopnik for posting a feed of the live reveal on their site.

BMW Spain, very pretentious

Spotted this on adrants.  The art direction and flow is pretty good.  But seriously, can you get more pretentious than this?  And further, how many young, 1 series owners or potential purchasers, even know who JackKerouac is?  This makes me want to never own a BMW.  Good thing this is running in Spain, so I don’t have to see this during my regularly scheduled programming.

Those crazy Volvo people

Here is a commercial that is running in Sweden.  The spot is called Subliminal.  Which I don’t quite understand.  Because that would mean things are hidden.  Yet it’s advertising patterns you can use to decorate your C30.  Anyways, it has some great art direction and it’s kind of cute.
