Jeremy Clarkson for UK Prime Minister?

January 4, 2008

Jeremy Clarkson

An online petition on the website of current Prime Minister Gordon Brown is attempting to push the Top Gear presenter next in line for the position. Over 30,000 signatures have been signed up so far, and the PM’s office is reportedly “taking it seriously.”

No comment has been made yet by Clarkson.

Here’s to hoping something comes of the situation, so Clarkson’s self-confidence and ego can receive a much needed boost. The full article after the jump. Read the rest of this entry »

the ultimate driving mix

This comes up all the time, “what’s the best driving mix/cd/playlist?” Following is my “ultimate driving mix.” It’s pretty eclectic, rap, indie, oldies, rock, pseudo-country, etc. Pretty much everything but techno/trance. Most of you will probably despise the majority of the songs that made it into my ultimate playlist but I don’t care… I am the one footing the hosting and domain bills. ;) After the jump you will see the full listing and a link to the song (if I can find one) and if you venture over to the forum you can submit your own ultimate driving mix.

So this guy, who sounds like Tony Soprano, has a CTS-V.  He wants to throw a big turbo on it.  In preparation, he adds a new catback, some fuel and ignition management, etc.  He then invites his Lambo owning friend over to video tape him starting it up.  Upon start up he proceeds to blow the cats out of the car.  Nice!  And the last comment of the video is classic.

top 10 most unusual drifts

Terrible music. But excellent drifting skills, in a tank. Apparently people get really bored in Sweden. Which is understandable, because it’s pretty much Canada but with hotter chicks. A Man’s World has the whole slew. There is even some guy drifting with a horse and carriage. The kid on the three wheeler appears to have better drifting skills than Nick Hogan.

That’s right. culture|garage members, Palmer, JK and myself (Chris) will be fielding a team to compete in September’s 24 Hours of LeMons. We don’t have a car (yet), but we do have a plan. If you have been living under a rock for the past couple of years 24 hours of LeMons is a 24 hour race of beaters that were purchased for under $500. As for the title of this entry, a modest proposal was sent to Jalopnik, challenging them to a duel of the blogs. But I never heard anything back.

AutoBlog, got called out, because, well, they like to rip off our ideas. ;-) I mean, I clearly associated the new CAFE standards with School House Rock. My entry from four days prior vs. their entry.

EDIT: Ok, so they beat me to it.  Here I thought I was all clever, view the comments for AutoBlog’s link.

top 10 YouTube best drunken car stunts

I am partial to the crazy Canadians and their goofy accents.  Not only is the man shirtless, but he refuses to wear a helmet, “because it will shake my head to hard.”  But the fun doesn’t stop there, Motive Magazine has compiled a best of list.  You can probably guess what number one is; if your guess included rednecks, Budweiser and, f**k yeah–then you were correct.

Warner and the Wachowski’s released their trailer for the much anticipated upcoming launch of the Speed Racer re-do.  Speed Racer was (and should have remained) a 60’s Japanese cartoon.  The trailer looks super weird.   About the only redeeming factor the movie seems to have is the cast of characters.  Surprised that they were able to get such a cast for what will surely be a direct to DVD movie.

Emilie Hirsch stars as Speed Racer, you would recognize him from Lords of Dogtown and In to the Wild

Christina Ricci, yes she is hot

Susan Sarandon, I had no idea she was still alive

Matthew Fox, the doc from Lost

John Goodman, yeah, the guy from Rosanne
