Add a CommentJust the other day we did a quick write up on Motorsports Country Club, shortly after that I got an email from a gentleman named Kevin. Kevin is with Motorsports Park of Coloardo, another track that is being built in Colorado, this one a bit closer to Denver. It appears that this one is a bit further along then the MSCC site, as permits have already been obtained.
They are planning for a 5.86 mile track with two circuits. Their membership will be very country club like, with certain pricing levels giving you greater access to their amenities and track time. Per their site, they are still looking to break ground yet this year.
Check out their site they even have “videos” of out the circuit will be ran (a la Roller Coaster Tycoon). If these tracks keep popping up in Colorado, I am really going to have to reconsider some of the job offers out there. ![]()

Thanks to Jonathan for the tip. More and more it seems like private tracks and car country clubs are popping up. One of the most famous is IL’s Autobahn Country Club. This one in Colorado is just another one to add to the list of potential tracks seeking sponsors and investors. And it certainly makes me wish I lived in Colorado and had trash cans full of money. The about us reads like a who’s who and all seem fairly credible and established, however the creative director deserves a kick in the nads for the web design.
Anyways, the track is attempting to be the Nurburgring of North America and if they get established, it could be just that. And say you get bored just cresting hills at 130mph, that’s ok you can take to the ATV course, or the skid pad…or hell even the spa.
Hopefully, the folks at the track keep in touch, I would love to get one of our contributers there to take pictures and check out the progress. Check out pictures and plans on their site. Full press release after the jump.

Brainerd Raceway, Brainerd, Minn.- The NHRA is coming to Minnie-soda this weekend, and hopefully Chris will be reporting to Brainerd to experience some straight-line racing…or at least some fine funnel cakes. Oh, and according to the website description, there’s plenty of good fishing…so if the racing isn’t exactly enthralling, you can munch on some Pike with your funnel cakes. Anyhow, all of the racing can be seen on ESPN 2, with Qualifying being shown on the 9th from 6-8PM, Eliminations on the 10th, from 10PM to 1AM, and a repeat of Eliminations on the 13th, from 3-5AM. All times EST. Read the rest of this entry »

Sears Point Raceway, Sonoma, Ca.- Robert Hight took his Ford-badged auto-mo-bile into the winner’s circle at the Fram/Autolite NHRA Nationals this weekend, beating Gary Densham in the final round, running a 4.16 ET to Densham’s 4.22- that is, in the 1,000-foot race. Read the rest of this entry »

What a gruelling event. You start in Moscow. Go through Syberia. Head along to the capital of Mongolia…which is some city I can’t pronounce, let alone spell. The “course” is 4,349 miles long. And course is a relative word, watching some of the recap videos saw people lost multiple times and then just hauling across a river or marsh or desert.
But Porsche pulled off quite a feat with their special edition Cayenne S. Of the top ten finishers, Porsche held NINE of the positions. Regardless of what you think of SUVs you can’t deny Porsche’s prowess regardless of the surface or environment.
Check out more pictures here. So this year I get to cross 24 Hours of Lemons off of my list of things to do… maybe next year I can knock this one off of my list. Porsche, are you listening?

Ok, being a rally driver in its own, is pretty freaking cool, right? But I guess there are other perks. Like going to Willow Springs and beating the crap out of some Subarus for a test session. Awesome.

Pacific Raceways, Seattle, WA- Tony Bartone. What, never heard of him? That’s a shame, as he is one of the most talented drivers in the NHRA, and he just took his first Funny Car victory over the weekend. A veteran of alcohol racing, Bartone hadn’t managed to take an overall win in 119 starts in his professional career. 119. Read the rest of this entry »

Bandimere Speedway, Morrison, Co.- Tinfoil-hat wearing panicmongers and their followers (this author included) cast a grim eye on the action on Sunday at Bandimere, as the NHRA tested it’s inagural 1,000-foot contest in both Top Fuel and Funny Car. Although the four horsemen did not ride out of the clouds this past weekend, several winners emerged once all was said and done. Read the rest of this entry »
