Norwalk, OH- Doug Herbert took out the top guys in Top Fuel this past weekend-wait, what’s that you say? Who is Doug Herbert? Herbert, who drives for Snap-On racing, is only the latest driver to plow through the always-exciting ranks of Top Fuel. Loveland, Co- A strong wind whips out to the East here, where trees are sparse and livestock outnumber people. Just West of Greeley, Colorado, the Budweiser Events Center is home to stock shows, rodeos and other agriculturally-related events. For one weekend during every summer, however, one of the largest car shows in the Rocky Mountain region takes place here- the Goodguys Colorado Nationals. Yes, folks, that’s right, Ford has revived it’s drag-race-only specials for competition in the NHRA. These factory-backed Mustangs will sport a 3000 lb. curb weight, a 5.4 supercharged engine, rated by Ford at 400 horsepower, and a special wheel and graphics package to differentiate the car from typical Mustangs. Old Bridge Township Raceway Park, Englishtown, N.J.- The NHRA POWERAde Drag Racing series will be lightin’ ‘em up at Englishtown this coming weekend. A track popular with magazine writers, Englishtown is a historic track that is sure to see some great racing action. Pro Stock teams will have their final chance to earn their way into the K&N Horsepower Challenge, so the action on track will be hot! If you can’t make it to E-Town for the races, see it all on ESPN2,with Qualifying on June 21st from 4-8PM, a repeat of Qualifying from 11:30PM-1:30AM, Eliminations on the 22nd from 8-11PM and a repeat of Eliminations on the 24th from 2-4AM. Sorry guys/gals, looks like the guy best known for Love Lines, The Man Show and Crank Yankers will be hosting the US version of Top Gear. The good news is rally hot-shoe, Tanner Foust, will be co-hosting it. Maybe if we get lucky, Carolla will get fired before the show gets canceled. That being said, if it doesn’t suck, it will be nice to watch this on DVR rather than dealing with Torrent downloading the UK version. Which I will probably still do. c|g was lucky enough to find out about this via NBC’s PR group. Which is kind of cool. Full press release post jump.

Last week, Morgan Stanley economist Ole Slorer made a statement that is cause for celebration: oil will one day fall to $60 a barrel again. However, Slorer warned that crude could hit $150 before the dollar regains value and prices begin to stabilize. Read the rest of this entry »

Route 66 Raceway, Chicago- Chalk another win up for Mr. Tony Pedregon, who took his 38th Funny Car title home this weekend. Able to endure through terrible eliminations weather and a fire during qualifying rounds, Pedregon took out a tough field to claim the title. Read the rest of this entry »
