5 CommentsDateline SNOQUALMIE, Washington. Sorry, I have always wanted to use “dateline.” Troopers are saying that a heavily intoxicated 14 year old girl lost control of her mother’s (who was in the van, also intoxicated and passed out) van and flipped it. The teen was thrown from the vehicle and has serious head and spinal damage, but is expected to survive. The 32 year old mother was fine.
Police on the scene report that malt liquor bottles were found in the vehicle. According to the officers, the mother was so drunk she could not even remember her birth date.
How does this happen? How? A drunk 14 year old. A passed out mother. I can’t begin to imagine the charges that will be brought against them.

european car’s May issue, hit the mailboxes yesterday and today. I flipped through it briefly and caught an interesting article, or at least a semblance of an article, buried 60 some pages back in the 106 page issue (man it seems like these magazines have shrunk).
They had a list of top 10 sleepers. For those of you living under a rock, a sleeper is something you would never expect to kick a flashy sports car’s ass. It’s a car that the 5-0 would never give a second glance. And the car that doesn’t leave people questioning your manhood.
I have the full list after the jump, some I agree with, others are meh, and some are not really sleepers.

Most readers here probably frequent multiple automotive forums. Ineveitably, every few months someone will make a post, “Thinking about buying a rebuild/salvage.”
What will follow is likely pages upon pages of people arguing the pros and cons of a rebuild/salvage car. I tend to stick with the party that says, “you are crazy, keep saving money and buy a decent car rather than saving a few thousand.”
Obviously, there are exceptions and I am sure some of you will chime in with hate, saying “omg, I am never reading your blog again, I have a salvage Z06 which is mint and only shakes around 60-70mph!”
Check out the Fifth Gear crash test of two identical cars, one is salvage repaired and the other is all stock. Pretty interesting.

Video NSFW language. About a week ago I received an email via my c|g address inviting me to attend the press days at the New York International Autoshow. Wow. Pretty crazy, who would have thought that a thesis project would turn into something this cool?
So you ask, Chris, what was the point of this post? I don’t know, bragging, I guess. Or just sheer dumbfoundedness (I made that word up).
Now let’s just hope Northwest doesn’t screw up my flight.
