So the local Audi dealership (Audi Exchange in IL) has ordered yet another weird color for the RS4. The owner of the dealership has some odd color tastes when it comes to cars. First he ordered an orange (Papaya Orange is my guess) RS4 with Titanium Package that he drove around for a bit and still is for sale on the lot.

But yesterday at the Audi Exchange shows up a Porsche GT3RS Green painted Audi RS4 with Titanium Package. It definitely doesn’t look as good as on the GT3RS that’s for sure. And personally I would prefer General Lee’s painted RS4.

Prepare to drool, Mopar lovers, because your definition of the muscle car is about to be changed. Well, at least that’s what the guys at Xtreme Velocity Motorsports say, anyway. The old adage of “goes fast in a straight line” is a bit irksome to the people that started XV, so they set out on a mission- to make a “musclecar” into a “do-anything supercar.” Read the rest of this entry »

First we learned the Volkswagen Scirocco will not be making it to these shores, and now we are getting stiffed out of the Volkswagen Touareg .:R50. Sure let’s blame the weak dollar, but I blame it on uninformed Americans that know little about the wonderful world of TDi engines. Back home I see more (hear more) diesels cars than gasoline powered counterparts.

Enough crying though, the Volkswagen Touareg .:R50 is now on sale in the UK that features VW’s famed V10 TDI engine. The .:R50 is introduced with 257kW, up from the standard 230kW. Torque also has been increased by 100Nm to 850Nm, easily being able to pull a Boeing 747. 0-60 happens in just 6.5 seconds, making it about as quick as the Golf .:R32. Top speed is the mandatory 250km/h.

A set of 21-inch 10-spokers (similar to the .:R32 Omanyt wheel) is the first noticeable difference exterior-wise. A matte chrome grille with honeycomb inserts is featured upfront, while the rear has to make do with a small roof spoiler, body-colored bumper and oval tailpipes. Interior-wise the trim is upgraded to a similar carbon-fiber cube look pattern from the .:R32, .:R-line pedals, and navigation is standard.

UK prices commence at £61,885 (RRP OTR)/ €81,177.

Remember the Nissan (Datsun, whatever) Z-cars? Not the current gen, natch, but the old ones, with the great styling and spirited little engines? If you are a purist, prepare for a shock- the hybrid Z ain’t some sort of twin-engined econobox, it’s nothin’ but horsepower. Pure, unadulterated vee-eight fun. Read the rest of this entry »

Yes, I know. It’s hot. Motive writes of this Volvo hot rod was meant to mimic the first Volvo, the 1927 OV4. While these are not the actual panels they are close reproductions of how the car looked. The chassis is carbon fiber, the panels were handmade, the engine is a late model T5 (turbo five cylinder), the transmission is from a 960.

Basically, this is just straight up bad ass. It was unveiled at the Volvo Museum a few days ago and will soon make its way over to the US via SEMA. More pictures and an example of what the original car looked like, post jump.

The period of the A/FX car is a time that will never be seen again on such a scale as it existed during the early to mid-60’s. It was a time when the cars were based off of production models, used factory parts (for the most part) and when safety was a secondary consideration. As exciting as it is to see a modern Pro-Stocker light ‘em up and make a flawless pass down the ’strip, the drama of the old days is sadly, gone. There are no wheelstands, no diving front ends as drivers reached for another gear on the four-speed, no nuthin’. However, this period is not forgotten, nor is it dormant. It lives on with guys like Mr. Rich “The Performance King” Lefebvre and those like him. Read the rest of this entry »
