Spyshots of the Spyker Aileron

April 23, 2008

This one is for Leigh, a contributor and photographer who joined me at NYIAS, she stood and drooled over the modest Spyker display.

Anyways, Emil, from autogespot sent this through thinking it might be of interest to our American readers.  Apparently the Aileron is powered by an Audi-sourced 400hp engine.  As you can see this “spy shot” is more a shot of a test mule.  The car has the C8 front end, but the ass-end just looks all sorts of messed up.

Anyone here a fan of the Spykers?  I like them, but I was never a huge fan of them.  For the $200,000+ price point I can think of a lot of other things I would like to buy…namely a Nissan GTR, a Cayenne GTS and an 08 STI, the remaining $14,000 I would just put in the bank.  ;)

Camaro Seen, Heard on Film

April 22, 2008

Nurburgring, Nurburg, Ger- For some, today is a red letter day of the first order, as the upcoming Chevrolet Camaro has finally been captured on film-and in fine form. Spotted at Germany’s famed “Nurburgring,” the Camaro seemed to be testing, most likely to correct any glitches or bugs in the production car. Read the rest of this entry »

Romeo, Mi.- Forum member sharabi over at the Team Shelby forums has posted the most recent shots of a 2010 Mustang to date. The pictures clearly show a sculpted “shoulder” and a defined “c” scoop along the side of the car. Obviously, speculation about the car is all there really is to go on, but these shots are even closer than the Priddy folks could get. More pictures after the jump. Read the rest of this entry »

Pontiac’s G(8)-Spot

March 27, 2008

Ok, yeah, I know, the title was quite a bit sophomoric. Spot is ad-jargon for a tv commercial. I couldn’t help myself, it was just sitting there like a baseball on a tee.

So here is the deal, Leo Burnett has been around for ages, it’s a big ass ad agency who has brought you some brand icons… i.e. the Marlboro Man. I have never been a huge fan of their current slew of automotive work…until I saw this.

A few things:

1. The Pontiac G8 is a pretty mean looking car (I mean the front wheel arches are massive)

2. This spot does well to inject some much needed youth into the brand and this really identifies with the market

If you don’t recognize the context of this… you probably aren’t in the target market, but this is based (very well) around the arcade game, Spy Hunter. Watch and enjoy.

Sorry for all the advertising-centric posts; it’s my career (and passion).

Ferrari may be rolling out testing for a possible F430 replacement, although this car seems to be front engined.

Spy shots were recently taken in Maranello on the street after this mule (is a Ferrari ever a mule?) exited the Fiorano race track. According to the photographer, it is a two seater with a short wheelbase, which goes along with Ferrari’s future models of smaller, lighter cars.

One more photo and a link after the jump.

More spyshots of the Aston Martin Rapide

January 26, 2008

aston-rapide-1.jpg

The Aston Martin Rapide concept has been revealed two years ago, but just this week pictures of the pre-production prototype of the the car have been seen.

Aston Martin informs us that production of the car will be between 1000 and 2000 units per year, slightly more from the original estimate of 500 per year. This is due to the fact of people’s strong interest in the Rapide.

The Rapide is built on the company’s VH (Vertical/Horizontal) architecture like all other Aston Models. And while the car may look sporty and not that big, its comparable to the Mercedes Benz S-class in size.

New FX55, the SUV people love to hate

January 21, 2008

fx55.jpg

Not quite sure why it illicits such a strong distaste among enthusiasts.  Personally, I think the FX is one of the best looking SUV/CUVs on the market.  And the sound they make, even in v6 form is beautiful.  What you are looking at here, is one of the first spy shots of the FX55.  One would expect that it is powered by a 5.5l v8.  It looks to feature a revised front fascia and some GTR’esque headlights.  Nissan will be having the initial unveiling at the Geneva Auto Show later this year.
