It’s fun doing hood rat stuff

May 5, 2008

Two seven year olds, one of which was smoking cigarettes, decided to go Grand Theft Auto in grandma’s blinged out Durango. During that time of doing “fun hood stuff” they hit two parked cars, two moving cars, two mailboxes, a curb, a sign, etc. The good news is two fold, 1. no one was hurt and 2. a nasty portholed and dubbed out Durango is no longer on the road.

If I were the parents, a serious ass-whopping would be in this kids future, apparently Latarian believes he should be suspended from video games for “a whole weekend.”

Our fellow site member, b-dash, is big into the outdoor sports.  Lucky for us, he is also into cars.  This was spotted on Mountainbuzz.com, an outdoor activity forum.  Apparently, some buddies were hoping to go kayaking.  They parked the car across the street, left it running with the e-brake engaged, to go check out if the spot was good enough to deploy the kayaks.  Unfortunately, the car was rather interested, it crossed two lanes and then plunged into the Payette River.

From there it took a spin down the rapids.  Remarkably, the car was still running when the tow truck pulled it from the river.  Check out the thumbs below or view a video from the local news station here.

E-Bay isn’t exactly Barrett-Jackson, and nor is a ‘93 Mustang Cobra R a Shelby. Still, one particular example of Fox-bodied fangedness has brought some serious coin- and managed to remain unsold. Read the rest of this entry »

Bonus Question of the Week

I’m willing to bet that some of our wonderful commenters out there have spent some time in school, and thus can relate to the plight of finals. Yes, the one week where an academic career can be made-or broken- by simply filling in the wrong bubbles on a scantron form. Having said this, I will be partaking in my last set of finals for my undergraduate career next week, so late night study sessions have been the norm in my world. However, there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and with your help, I can get there. The skinny after the jump. Read the rest of this entry »

Spotted on BimmerForums, this poor guy was cruising down the highway in his E36 when all of the sudden wheels that look to have been fired off of a Donk waxed his car.  The damage to the car sucks.  But let’s be realistic, cars can be replaced…life can’t.  Luckily, the driver survived, minus a hole in his throat, a potentially broken shoulder and abrasions from the splintered glass.  View this link for more pictures.

Ooh, I have a treat for y’all this week. Now then, I know there are contingents of folks who visit the site every day, searching for content and coverage of the JDM brands. Well, this week, it’s a battle royale, as you, our readership, will be the judge. Read the rest of this entry »

NHRA, NASCAR Weekend Wrap-Up

Atlanta Dragway- Ashley Force was the winner this weekend in Atlanta, taking down her father, John Force, in the final round. It was an all-around good weekend for Castrol/ John Force Racing, with the patriarch coming in second, and Ford-linked Bob Tasca III going down in the semis to Force. It was a historic day in Funny Car, where if senior Force were to win, it would have been his one-bazillionth career win, and having Ashley win gave her both her first overall victory, and the first victory by a female in Funny Car, one of the most hotly contested categories in the PowerADE drag racing series. On that note, “Full Throttle,” a Coca-Cola brand, will be sponsoring the series beginning next year, with a contract to do so until 2013. Read the rest of this entry »

E-Type A-Go-Go

April 26, 2008

If you read last week’s Question of the Week, you know that I’m a huge fan of Jaguar E-Types, especially of the V-12 variety. Although the Jag straight six is a wonderful engine, you can’t match the WWII Spitfire sound that a Jag V-12 produces, it’s just magic for the ears. In browsing YouTube, I actually stumbled across this video of a ‘73 E-Type blasting down a few roads, engine at full yap. I really envy the driver- that is one beautiful Jag, being driven on a beautiful fall day-the perfect kind of day for spirited motoring. This is another one of those “turn your speakers up” videos-so give it a listen.

Have a great weekend, folks!
