4 CommentsYou probably heard the rumors earlier this week, but now it’s official. Champ and IRL have agreed to merge leagues. Back in 1995 things got a little rocky in the Indy Racing League. Half of the teams broke off and started CART. Well in 2003 CART when bankrupt. In 2004 some dudes with a lot of money, bought the defunct series and named it Champ Car.
Then they realized neither IRL or Champ were making any money. And everyone was watching NASCAR. So rather than split their audience, they made the decision to merge. What effects will that have on the series? Is it really going to change anything? I get the funny feeling that it’s just too late.

Day one of the 100 Acre Wood Rally has come to a close. Ken Block is leading over Pastrana by 30 seconds. Block has proved his mettle in these woods before, taking first place overall the last two years in a row.
Late winter storms made for an interesting event, snow and ice blanketed the stages, which left many competitors sliding off course. The Mitsu team, ACP Racing, took a dive off of the last stage and punctured the radiator. That put Comrie-Picard in 6th place overall. Rockstar Energy Drink’s Tanner Foust took his Subie into a fence post, leaving him with significant damage to the left front of the car–netting him at 5th place overall.
Comrie-Picard and Foust are expected to return Saturday and still be in contention for the top spots.

Released in November for XBOX 360, Nintendo Wii, mobile phones, Playstation 3, Playstation 2 and PC, Need for Speed: Pro Street is EA games most recent title in the Need for Speed series. The game is centered (largely) around “street racers” who have gone “legit” and their vehicles. If the storyline isn’t flimsy enough, the stability of the game is even worse. You think you are a good driver? Check out this guy. He moves around this course like he’s driving a hovercraft on butter. Finally, someone who could probably give the Stig a run for his money. More info after the jump.

Unfortunately, c|g couldn’t bring you live coverage from this Rally America event. But we will do our best to keep you updated. The 100 Acre Wood rally takes place in the middle of Missouri. Drivers consider this one of the fastest events in the series. Some of the “usuals” didn’t have that great of showings at Sno*Drift and are hoping to redeem themselves at 100 Acre Wood; Block finished fifth, Pastrana slaughtered a deer and took 25th, Pinker had problems as well.
Subaru Rally Team driver, Ken Block, told Rally America, “My goal is to win 100 Acre Wood for the third year in a row, the roads are very fast and flowing. They are some of my favorite roads in the championship and fit my driving style very well. I plan on going flat out.”
We will keep you as close to the information as possible, the rally kicks off mid-day and ends late Saturday evening.

The last time you heard “Japanese” and “bike” together, you probably thought about some sort of Kawasaki cafe racer or a Honda CBR-series motorcycle. Although Japanese bikes are more known for being all-out racers rather than cruisers, a small but VERY talented bike shop in Japan is keeping the traditional hog alive.
Have I died and gone to car heaven? Well it seems like it after watching two of my favorite modified supercars battle it out on the track. The Gemballa-tuned Porsche Carrera Mirage GT and Lamborghini Murcielago 660 GT by BF are raced against each other for the German TV-show “DMAX”.
Behind the wheel of Murcielago BF 660 GT is none other than Ring Queen Sabine Schmitz, and let’s just say the driver of the Mirage GT is one lucky guy.

Seriously? People really ask questions like this? This guy just posted on an RX-8 forum, wanting to know if it was possible to stretch his 18in tires to fit on to a 19in wheel.
Big fail. One of the best comments: “sell your car. buy a vw.”
Check out the thread here to follow the hillarity that will ensue.
