Ok, for those of you that didn’t know, I am a HUGE Mustang fan. There’s just nothing like them. Sure, you can have your Nissan this, or your BMW that, but nothing beats the feel of a Mustang. It’s a visceral thing. Well, today as I was busily scouring the internet for some automotive appeasement, I came across this: Jay Leno drives Mustang. 

What else can I say? Turn the volume up, set the lights low, and enjoy.

The newest Ford crossover, the Fairlane Flex, has a new mini-site where potential buyers can build, spec and price their own vehicle. Although the pricing shown is not official, it gives buyers a good idea of what they’ll need to pay for this new kiddie/surfboard/parts/band stuff hauler. Consumer Reports, which ranks things with colored circles, has declared the Cadillac CTS victor over its German rivals.  The magazine gave the CTS a higher ranking than the BMW 328 and the Mercedes-Benz C300, in their list of upscale sports sedans.  Further, the CTS receivde an overall, “excellent” rating.  While the krauts only pulled a “very good.”

But alas, the Japanese dropped the bomb, the Infiniti G35 and the Acura TL took first and second.

Hot damn. We all can agree that the Gulf livery is probably the best race scheme ever. Right? Then you will probably also agree that this is one of the coolest watches you have seen.

It’s made by Tag Heuer, who claims that this watch was immortalized in 1970 by Steve McQueen who wore it in the movie, Le Mans. It’s a tribute to the Porsche 917 Gulf that was in the film.

Defining style is a hard thing to do, especially when it’s applied to cars. Everyone has their own opinions, and I want to hear yours today. For me, American style gets no better than a Pre-War Lincoln-Zephyr, especially the 1939 coupe. Long, bold and beautiful, Lincoln Zephyrs were for the well-to do, without appearing snobbish and overdone, more like ships prowing icy North Atlantic waters. Resplendent in varying shades of cream, black and brown, to me these cars are the pinnacle of American style. It appears that Lincoln is going to try this approach again with the new MKS, which looks completely Lincoln, and totally American. The waterfall grille is an especially nice touch, in my personal opinion. But enough about my thoughts, what do you see as the most stylish American car ever made?

If you thought Ford was a little possessive about their cars, don’t buy a Nissan GT-R in Japan. Speed limiters are nothing new, but when you drop 80 grand on a car like the Nissan GT-R, you might be interested in at some point taking it over the 111mph governed top speed. However, apparently Nissan doesn’t like that idea, so when you do reach over that speed while driving on the street, an annoying light turns on that can only be turned off by shutting off the car completely. Discovered on YouTube today was this video of a Bugatti Veyron getting the Flintstone push to the nearest gas station after running out of fuel. At full throttle, the Veyron burns fuel at a staggering 2.1 mpg which empties the tank in 12 minutes. If I were ever to buy one, I don’t think I could even make a quick trip to the grocery store without running empty, which is fitting, since I wouldn’t have any money to buy food for the rest of my short-lived days.
