6 CommentsThis comes up all the time, “what’s the best driving mix/cd/playlist?” Following is my “ultimate driving mix.” It’s pretty eclectic, rap, indie, oldies, rock, pseudo-country, etc. Pretty much everything but techno/trance. Most of you will probably despise the majority of the songs that made it into my ultimate playlist but I don’t care… I am the one footing the hosting and domain bills.
After the jump you will see the full listing and a link to the song (if I can find one) and if you venture over to the forum you can submit your own ultimate driving mix.
The list, all 31 of ‘em: Read the rest of this entry »

So this guy, who sounds like Tony Soprano, has a CTS-V. He wants to throw a big turbo on it. In preparation, he adds a new catback, some fuel and ignition management, etc. He then invites his Lambo owning friend over to video tape him starting it up. Upon start up he proceeds to blow the cats out of the car. Nice! And the last comment of the video is classic.

If you have met with a group of car guys before there were likely, jorts and ugly sandals involved. Well here at culture|garage we like to push forth “car guy” fashion. We already told you about car coats and driving gloves. And if you happen to be a chick, or cross dresser, we also told you about the convertible heels. Now let’s chat driving shoes… Vans are not driving shoes, they are for people that don’t wash themselves and use skateboards and pierce their lips. While I love Speed Cats as much as the next guy, I decided to take a step into the more sophisticated (sarcasm) realm of driving shoes. Enter Clark Grips. These shoes are incredible. Extremely light weight, look good with dress casual attire or eurohemmed jeans
I even managed to give them some track time this summer. I will venture to say, I like them more than Speed Cats, they are more comfortable, look better and the sole allows you to “feel” the pedals better. You can pick up a pair here.

I absolutely despise left lane parkers. You know who they are, the person who drives in the left lane going exactly the same speed as people in the right lane or roughly 3mph slower than the speed limit. My favorite ones are the ones, who finally get over after 17miles and then as you pass them, they get back over into the left lane. I typically flash my brights and then turn on the turn signal hoping that they will get the idea. But this window banner brings a whole new level of attention and sophistication. However, it will require the removal of “Saab” that is draped across my window in gothic type face. Purchase “Move Over” and “Slower Traffic” at Left Lane Drivers.

The race isn’t until September in Toledo but we are already getting excited, perhaps egged on by Jalopnik’s coverage of the top 50 cars at Thunderhill. You read it here first, culture|garage will be fielding a 1995 Saab 9000 Aero in the Midwest LeMons competition. Currently, the car sits in an alley, pretty much stripped of everything. As it is at the forefront of importance in a race vehicle, we have already begun concepting paint schemes for the car, join the fun. Why a Saab 9000 you ask? Well because a Saab is the epitome of reliability, we like leather and want to prove once and for all that FWD is God’s gift to car enthusiasts. Realistically, because we got one for dirt cheap and one or two of the guys are brainiacs with making Saabs sweet and between us we have enough parts to make three complete cars. Stay tuned for more.
* We haven’t actually registered. We don’t have a complete team determined. And the car is subject to change. Other than that, we are sooo doing this race!
We now know where the Clubman got its nasty genes… the Mini XXL stretch limo. This debuted last week in Athens, the 18 footer was built by a coach company out of LA. It features the standard limo luxo-bits, tv/dvd, twinkiling ceiling, etc. It is also has the John Cooper Works tuning kit on it… but wait, it gets better, the rear roof can be removed to expose a two seater whirlpool for all your post prom shennanigans.

DrivingSports is covering off on a WRX that decided to bite hard and roll end over end seven times. Apparently this happened at Subiefest in 2006, but it is just now making the web. The car was built as a show car, but the owner wanted to prove that it had some track prowess. Somehow, the driver survived the wreck…I have no idea how. Sorry I can’t embed the video…view it here: DrivingSports

This comes from Saatchi Australia for Toyota’s new/facelifted Landcruiser. The production budget must have been pretty padded, it appears to have been filmed on Mars. It’s a bummer that Toyota has softened the Landcruiser so much, they used to be such awesome vehicles. It just looks like a bloated Rav4 now. The FJ 60 (below) was the last of the “true” Landcruisers.
