MacBook Air: Thinning My Expectations

January 15, 2008

As many fellow gadget nerds might know, Apple released their new ultra-thin notebook this morning at the 2008 MacWorld Keynote. Rumors ran wild the weeks before the show as usual, and not surprisingly a lot of them came true.

The MacBook Air boasts as the “world’s thinnest notebook,” and certainly lives up to that mark. When I first saw the pictures of the slim computer, I was impressed. I’ve always thought my MacBook Pro was thin, but this really blew it out of the water. However, it was soon that my excitement would begin to fade. Read the rest of this entry »

Scar a child in your life

Road Kill (yup that’s a trademark) is in the business of making some of the weirdest stuffed animals on the market.  The plush animals feature a zip up pouch in which you can pull the organs out… or put them back in, to have the semblance of a kind of normal stuffed animal.  Twitch (the raccoon), is the first available Road Kill (yup still a trademark) plushie thingy, but Grind and Splodge are coming soon.  If you want to scar someone, plan on spending roughly $50.  Check out Roadkilltoys for more info.

I hate to pick on people, because we all make mistakes, but this is just too much. A guy on a Tampa car forum had his friend’s dad put 75w90 transmission fluid in his 2002 WRX, and apparently the motor didn’t like that heavy goop in there. Yes, I said motor.

The result was a spun rod bearing and a deflated sense of self worth.

Did I mention the guy has a Calvin pissing on ricers avatar? He also “Eats RICErs For Lunch.”

How did he not notice “transmission fluid” printed on the bottle before it went in his engine? How did he not notice the exorbitant $11 per quart pricetag? The world may never know.

Continue after the jump for more priceless quotes.

People spend literally thousands of dollars on pearl coat and other various shiny paint options. So why is it everytime I see something sprayed in a blah’esque matte black, I begin to drool? This Gemballa Mirage GT done up in matte black is incredible. And I guess the plus side of matte paint is that it doesn’t require as much keep up. Or how do you even take care of matte paint. A slew of pictures and specs… Read the rest of this entry »

So what’s the make and model? And don’t cheat, if you find the original picture, don’t link to it. I am curious to see what the crowd thinks it is. Oh and when you leave a comment, you will notice that Ryan updated a few things this weekend. Among them, he added an avatar function. Head to gravatar to set an account up (it takes less than a minute) and any site that has gravatar function installed will showcase your pretty face.

Caddy unveils CTS Coupe concept at NAIAS

Oh wow, this is hot.  Now if only the couple was powered by the CTS-V’s powertrain.  This is a much better looker than the CTS-V.  I think it’s the subtlty of the grille.  Plus the CTS is all “angly” and “angly” seems to work a lot better as a coupe than as a sedan.  The Car Connection brings you a bunch more photos… in a crappy gallery interface.

We already learned about the Japanese motorcycle oddities, now GrandJDM takes on the Tokyo Auto Salon. And wow, what a bevy of weird interesting vehicles. There were Lexus LS series with Pep Boy stick on port holes. A bunch of mini-van’s decked out in VIP treatment. My personal favorites were the Datsuns (both the Skyline and the beautiful 240 with the over-fenders) and the lifted Cressida. This is mainly due to personal relevance, my first car was a 1989 Toyota Cressida, a car years ahead of the competition and arguably one of the best cars I have ever driven. And the Z cars have always been a huge infatuation of mine, hence why I blew all my money restoring one (a few quicks snaps can be seen here). Anyways, many pictures from the show, post jump.
